A High Court sitting in Asaba, Delta State has prohibited Governor Mala Buni and other members of the All Progressives Congress Caretaker/Extra Ordinary Convention Planning Committee from parading themselves or acting as National Caretaker committee until a substantive suit before the court is determined.
APC Deputy National Chairman, Elvis Ayomanor and other officials of Delta State Chapter of APC approached the court on the ground that the July 10, 2021 ward congres of the party was not properly conducted in Delta State.
The court presided by Justice Onome Umukoro also halted the All Progressives Local Government Area Congress in Delta state scheduled for Saturday.
The order for the Buni committee to desist from parading itself as executive of the party may have also effectively checked the LGA congresses nationwide.
The claimant had sought the court order to grant a 7-point relief claiming that holding the LGA congress on Saturday Sept. 4 in Delta State would cause more harm.
Incidentally, the Gov. Buni led APC Caretaker committee had at its meeting on Wednesday given the go-ahead for the Local Government Congresses for Saturday and approved the immediate inauguration of the contentious ward executive following ratification of results of the nationwide election
