The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it cannot confirm the petition said to have been written by the son of the Governor of Kano state Abdulazeez Ganduje against his mother.
But sources privy to the matter disclosed that the Kano State first lady, Hafsat Ganduje is alleged to have swindled a property developer of hundreds of dollars.
The petition submitted by Abdulazeez to the anti graft agency is alleged to have revealed how he was approached by a property developer to help facilitate the acquisition of some plots of land in Kano with thousands of US dollars amounting to about 35 million naira as “facilitation commission” which he paid in dollars to his mother.
Abdulazeez decided to approach the EFCC when he discovered that the lands had been allocated to other buyers and his mother was not willing to refund the “facilitation commission” collected from his client.
There are reports that the Kano State first lady was invited by the commission last week but refused to honor the invitation.
Spokesperson of the EFCC, Wilson Uwajaren told AIT that he’s yet to receive information on the matter but there are indications that the first lady may appear at the commission’s headquarters in the coming days.
