And so, in what would have been the sad end of an undergraduate female Student of Niger Delta University, in Bayelsa State.
Undergraduate, Deborah Emafridom has been foiled by the police in collaboration with vigilante members at Ogobiri Community in Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
Deborah Emafridom, the victim according to police statement, was reportedly lured by a suspected ritualist, Sunday Favour Ojo, a native of Edo State to a nearby bush close to the Niger Delta University Campus, where he tied her hands.
The statement signed by the Bayelsa State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Asinim Buswat, says the suspected ritualist was on the verge of slitting Deborah’s throat when he was rounded up by a combined team of policemen and Ogobiri Community Youth Vigilante which had acted on a tip off from a suspicious resident.
The Bayelsa Police Spokesman says further investigation is ongoing on the matter and the suspect will soon be charged to court.
Meanwhile, the Bayelsa State Commissioner of Police, Echeng Eworo Echeng has commended the Vigilante members for their role in the arrest and consequently, called on members of the public to continue to give useful information to the police and other security agencies
